Project Description: Thames Valley Animal Hospital sought to create a sustainable, animal-friendly facility that reflects its commitment to both exceptional veterinary care and environmental stewardship. Our team collaborated closely to design an energy-efficient, eco-conscious space that aligns with the hospital’s vision of a compassionate and sustainable approach to animal health and wellness.
Scope of Work:
- Sustainable Building Materials: We prioritized non-toxic, eco-friendly materials for flooring, walls, and insulation to minimize environmental impact. All materials were chosen for their durability and ease of maintenance, providing a safe and healthy environment for animals and staff.
- Solar Energy Integration: A solar panel system was installed on the facility's rooftop, supplying a significant portion of the hospital's energy needs with renewable power. This reduced the hospital’s reliance on traditional energy sources and lowered its carbon footprint.
- Efficient Water Management: A greywater recycling system was implemented to repurpose water from sinks and cleaning stations, directing it toward landscaping irrigation. This efficient water system conserves resources while maintaining the hospital’s beautiful outdoor spaces.
- Natural Lighting and Ventilation Design: Floor-to-ceiling windows, skylights, and an open-floor plan allow ample natural light into the clinic, enhancing the well-being of both animals and staff. High-efficiency HVAC systems were installed to provide optimal air quality and reduce energy consumption.
- Therapeutic Outdoor Space for Animals: A designated healing garden was created to provide a calming outdoor area for pets recovering from procedures or in need of gentle exercise. This enclosed space includes pet-safe plants, shaded pathways, and comfortable resting areas.
Through these carefully tailored features, Thames Valley Animal Hospital has become a model of sustainable, thoughtful design in veterinary facilities, where patient care and environmental responsibility coexist harmoniously. Each aspect of the project highlights our commitment to meeting the unique needs of veterinary spaces while supporting a greener future.
